Fortress Esports, creator of the largest video gaming and esports entertainment venue in the Southern Hemisphere, has appointed Strive Sponsorship to provide commercial partnership strategic consultancy ahead of their 2020 launch.

The Melbourne city-centre 2700+ square metre venue will be set across two floors and host 160 gaming PCs, console gaming suites, dedicated streamer pods, a roll playing and table top game play area, function rooms, a full-service restaurant, two bars, and a 200-seat purpose-built esports arena with full production facilities, all under one roof.

Founded as a ‘home away from home’, Fortress Melbourne will welcome everyone from casual to competitive gamers and esports fanatics. Designed by the same team as Tottenham Hostpur’s new stadium, it is the first in a series of Fortress Esports locations planned for Australia over the next few years.

Last year Fortress Esports announced it had become part of the Allied Esports Property Network, joining the HyperX Esports Arena in the Luxor Resort and Casino Las Vegas, and 10 other esports venues across three countries, giving it access to additional event programming and content. Australia has seen huge growth in the popularity of esports and Fortress Melbourne will provide a cultural and sporting hub for events, tournaments, championships and general video game related recreation.

The engagement sees Strive’s client base in Asia Pacific grow after client wins in both Singapore and Malaysia, and continued growth in its esports practice following its recent World Rugby and English and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) announcements.

Commenting on working with Strive, Jon Satterley, CEO and Co-Founder of Fortress Esports, said:

We’ve been in conversations with Strive for over a year as we have developed our proposition and raised capital, and so it’s great to finally be able to work together. Strive’s strong venue experience, comprehensive international esports knowledge and track record in building compelling commercial partnership strategies that engage global brands and drive value for both parties, means they were the obvious choice to work with.

Malph Minns, Managing Director of Strive Sponsorship, said:

“Jon leads a very capable team with big ambitions and a hunger to learn and innovate in an area of esports which is evolving rapidly on a global scale. These factors always make for the most enjoyable and successful projects. We can’t wait to help Fortress Esports make a real difference to gaming and esports in Australia, and beyond.”
